yes anytime u change motherboards its pretty much a requirement … if the harddrive does boot in a new system 99 times out of 100 it wont work ryt even if u change drivers out ..
Hmmm, interesting question. What I would do and gamble is put everything together, drop in the drive and take it from there. If it does then you will know for sure.
I am assuming that you have the original Wimdows XP. I say, “nothing ventured, nothing gained.” The gaining part would be telling someone else, “hell yeah that will work!”
Since the hardware would’ve changed considerably, yes, it is recommended that you do a format and re-install. You could probably get by with an in-place upgrade of your OS. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341
That’s a 50-50 shot. It may or may not work.
The best option is always to back up your data, onto removable disks or USB drives etc and format and re-install.
You are going to want to reinstall windows when you do that.
Sure, you could get away without doing it, but you will have a higher chance of errors.
No you do not need to reformat your hard drive. You do need to make sure that your mother board finds your hard drive. This is usually not a problem any more. Next you must decide if you want to run windows drivers or the drivers that came with your equipment. For full operating functions of your equipment you should reinstall the specific drivers.
you can install all the correct drivers in device manager
XP will do it automatically when it boots
make sure you got all the drivers for your new gear either on disk or on a memory stick when you first boot.
