Laptop and Desktop Accessories

Submitted by admin on December 2, 2009 – 2:43 amNo Comment

Both desktop and laptop computers continue to grow faster, have more processing capabilities, and generally make computing easier and much more fun. In addition to the out of the box components available with personal and notebook computers, there are a number of accessories that can be purchased to facilitate the usability of the machines.

Adapter
While notebooks are packaged with adapters, few people realize how easy their lives can be made with the purchase of additional adapters. Laptops are designed to be easily transported between work, home, and on travel, but that transportability is hampered by constantly having to remove the adapter and replace it at the next location. Better is to keep an adapter at the place of work, one at home, and have one in the notebook carrying case for use when between those two places.

External Battery Charger

Battery chargers are the saving grace of the individual who uses his or her laptop computer consistently, yet does not have the ability to keep it plugged into a power outlet. This is a great tool for those who work outside of offices or who may be traveling to locations that may not have readily available power sources, such as trade shows, conventions, or large training events.

Notebook Case
It is surprising to many first time notebook buyers that the laptop computer is seldom packaged with a carrying case. A notebook carrying case is an essential item to anyone who plans to travel with their laptop, as it not only allows one to easily transport the notebook and all of its accessories, but it provides protection to the valuable notebook, with padding that helps avoid damage caused by accidental drops or spills. Notebook cases vary in the features they provide, but most come with a number of compartments, allowing the user to easily and quickly find objects such as pens, paper, USB flash drives, adapters, and other accessories.

Optical Mouse
An optical mouse can be used with either a desktop or a laptop computer and is one of the most popular computer accessories on the market today. An optical mouse takes the concept of the old roller ball style mouse but improves upon it by removing the roller ball, that so often becomes filthy and unusable. The optical mouse uses a light emitting diode (LED) to deliver communication between the computer and screen. Not only does the optical mouse work more efficiently than the older style, it can work on virtually any surface as well, removing the need for mousepads. An optical mouse is now standard with most personal computers, but is also a welcome addition to laptop users who may wish to have more control than a touchpad might allow.

Other accessories that may be of interest to the discerning desktop and laptop users are available in mass quantities. Just a sampling of the accessories available on the market today include laptop cooloing pads, replicators or docking stations, flexible keyboards, headphones, and microphones. The list goes on and on.
