    1) delete any and all data you don’t want/need
    2) upgrade the hard drive to one that has higher RPM and more data capacity
    3) defrag
    4) do a virus check
    5) add RAM
    6) upgrade the graphics card
This will turn out to be quite a project, I believe you’ll find. Depending on the model of the Dell, it may or may not be cheaper to buy a new computer (if the cost of the parts is more than the cost that one of these computers is going for these days on ebay, craigslist or anywhere else; then buy a new one).

  • Corey says:

Scan it and check for viruses if it has viruses, remove them if you can. Delete all the crap and all the programs which you don’t need. If that doesn’t work I guess you are gunno have to re-install it.

  • Takisha says:

delete some stuff like games you dont play anymore or programs you dont use or need by going to control panel and going to add or remove programs
also if you have a dell you could take the side off of the computer and use a vacum cleaner or pressured air in a can and clean the dust from the fan area in the back. you could also try running your security program and virus scan to delete any viruses you may have that make your computer slow

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!
Clean windows registry means faster PC performance. The registry is one of the most valuable sections of your PC. This is where important information and directories relating to installed software, hardware, temporary files downloaded from the Internet, created documents and folders, and other minor and minor applications are stored.
Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software’s, install new devices, download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system. This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched. Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.http://faster-computer-clean-registry.co…

  • History says:

Can you remember the last time you cleaned and optimized your registry? This is a frequent cause of your computer becoming slow. Like a car that needs to go to the mechanic for fine tuning, in order to maintain computer performance you need an occasional tune up yourself. The best way to do this is by downloading a registry cleaner. You can get my favorite at:http://www.registry-clean-up.net

ok yes you can add ram but if you don’t want to spend money then Remove Programs you don’t use Run defragmenter and can clear the prefetch
to clear the prefetch file click start and then Look for RUN and enter prefetch and all the little stuff you see in the folder Delete it Empty the recycling bin
to use disk defragmeter Click Start button Go to my computer click One of your hard drives and then right click it go to properties and then look for i think its called tools and click disk defregmation

You can use a registry cleaner to clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause “computer slow”.
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.http://make-my-pc-faster.com

  • Rain Girl says:

Uninstall all unnecessary programs through the add or remove programs tool.
However, to get any real change, you will need to format and reinstall windows.
You might need to purchase some additional RAM, as well.
Do yourself a favor and take it to a PC doctor. You will be grateful you did!

  • McKay says:

First, backup all your data to an external medium.
Then, if you have no hardware problems, do this:
    (1) Run a FULL anti-virus scan with a good virus scanner. Get free editions of Avast or Antivir. Use the latest virus definitions file. But don’t install or run more than one anti-virus at the same time.http://www.avast.comhttp://www.avira.com
    (2) Run anti-spyware scans with Super Anti-spyware and malwarebytes free editions.http://malwarebytes.org/http://www.superantispyware.com/
    (3) Ensure all Microsoft security updates are applied.
    (4) Run disk cleanup to delete old temp files and other junk
(5a) Run chkdsk once to scan for file system errors. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265
(5b) Run a thorough disk defrag. Use a good defragmenter for this, and also run a boot-time defrag to fix the MFT and page file if they are fragmented. Check out Diskeeper 2009, which is widely acknowledged to be the best defragger around. Their website has free 30-day trial versions. http://www.diskeeper.com
    (6) Disable unnecessary background processes and services that take up memory.
    (7) Make sure all the hardware components have the latest and most stable drivers. Video card performance in particular is strongly dependent on drivers.
You do not need to clean out the registry or mess with the registry in ANY way whatsoever. Deleting a wrong key from the registry can damage your operating system.
    Good Luck!

  • Peacemak says:

Buy some upgrades for it. You can make a slow computer fast buy getting a smaller hard drive as your main drive(the one windows is installed on) upgrade the ram, video card, and keep the computer with minimal amounts of programs on it.
